Recently, there was a Sony State of Play where updates were provided on more than 20 games, along with some exciting new announcements we’ve been eagerly waiting for.
Here is the List of Games
1. Ghost of Yotei
The biggest announcement from the State of Play was the sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, titled Ghost of Yotei, not Ghost of Tsushima 2. The new protagonist is a character named Asus. The trailer revealed that the game is set in the year 1603, 300 years after the story of the original game. It takes place around the famous Mount Yotei in Japan. Sony’s CEO also confirmed plans to expand this franchise into movies, TV shows, and spin-offs. The game is set to release in 2025, and the exact date will likely be revealed in the next trailer.
2. Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered
We finally got official confirmation of the Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered version for PS5. Players who already own the PS4 version can upgrade to the PS5 version for just $10. Prices for the original Horizon Zero Dawn have surged due to this update. The remastered version will release with prerecorded dialogues and enhanced visuals on October 31, 2024, providing a more hyper-realistic experience. The remaster is also coming to PC.
3. Monster Hunter Wilds
The official release date for Monster Hunter Wilds is February 28, 2025. It will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC. It’s an open-world action RPG set in a fantasy world filled with different kinds of monsters. Players can create custom characters and engage in epic battles. The new trailer showcased new monsters and gameplay mechanics.
4. Astro Bot DLC
The highly-rated Astro Bot game is getting a free DLC featuring speed run challenges and special bot rescue missions in late 2024. This cute game has 5 new online speed-run levels and 10 new bots to rescue, but it remains PS5-exclusive.
5. Hitman 3 VR Reloaded
Hitman 3 VR Reloaded is set to release in December for PS VR2, with dual-wield and hand-gesture support. The same storyline will be there with some minor optimization fixes, providing a close-up experience to brutally eliminate targets.
6. Alan Wake 2 Lake House DLC
A new DLC expansion for Alan Wake 2, titled Lake House, will release in October 2024 on PS5 and Xbox Series X. The expansion continues the story as players uncover the secrets of a research facility causing paranormal activities in Golden Lake, with a dark presence as the main villain.
7. New PS5 Controller Colors Announced
Sony announced new colors for the DualSense controllers, referred to as the Chroma Collection. Pre-orders will start in October 2024.
8. PS5 Pro Supported Games
Sony also revealed a list of games optimized for PS5 Pro, including:
- Dragon Age: The Veilguard
- Assassin’s Creed Shadow
- The Crew Motorfest
- Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth
- Stellar Blade
- Star Wars Jedi: Survivor
- Metal Gear Solid A: Snake Eater
- The Last of Us Part II Remastered
- Palworld Released on PS5
9. Palworld Released on PS5
Palworld has finally been released for PS5, but due to legal disputes with Nintendo, its Japan release has been delayed. However, it’s available worldwide outside Japan.
10. Metro Awakening VR
The Metro Awakening VR game will release on November 7, 2024. It’s a first-person, story-driven adventure available on Meta Quest and other PC VR platforms, featuring exploration and combat based on the famous Metro series.
11. LEGO Horizon Adventure
A LEGO Horizon Adventure game will launch on November 14, 2024, for PS5 and PC. It’s an action-adventure game where players take on the role of Alloy, but this time, everything is in LEGO form.
12. Ninja Turtles Revenge DLC
A new DLC for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, titled Radical Reptiles, has been released for free. The game is inspired by the TMNT cartoons, with old-school graphics and a creamy soundtrack along with new characters.
13. The Midnight Walk
The Midnight Walk is an upcoming clay-motion-style game. Developers used real-world clay assets that were 3D scanned into the game. This unique game will be available for PS VR2 and PS5, though the release date hasn’t been announced.
14. Hell is Us
A new trailer for Hell is Us was shown. It’s an open-world survival horror game, but there’s no map or indicators—players have to explore and survive on their own. The game is set for PS5 and Xbox Series X, though the release date is still pending.
15. Fantasia Neo Dimension
Fantasia Neo Dimension, developed by Final Fantasy creators, will be released on December 5, 2024. It’s a technical RPG based on the Fantasia game that was previously exclusive to Apple.
16. Dynasty Warriors Origins
Dynasty Warriors Origins will feature intense combat where players fight massive armies, sometimes battling against thousands of enemies on a single map. This hack-and-slash game is set for release in January 2025.
17. Towers of Aghasba
Towers of Aghasba will launch in early access in November 2025. It’s a city-building game where players return to rebuild their homeland after 50 years of destruction. It’s the debut project by the studio Dreamlit.
18. Fear The Spotlight
Fear the Spotlight is an indie horror game inspired by PS1 visuals, where the story revolves around Vivian and her paranormal experiences. The game is developed by a small indie studio called Cozy Game Pals, and is set to release on October 22, 2025, for PS5 and Xbox Series X.
19. ArcheAge Chronicles
A new trailer for ArcheAge Chronicles was revealed. It’s an MMORPG set in a fictional medieval world. However, developers are focusing more on the action RPG elements this time, with intense boss fights, raids, and community-building.
20. Lunar Remastered Collection
Lunar Remastered Collection is releasing in Spring 2025, featuring remastered versions of Lunar: The Silver Star and Lunar: Eternal Blue with updated visuals and widescreen support. It will be available on all platforms, including PC.
21. Legacy of Kain
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remasters are coming this December, marking the 25th anniversary of the original release on December 10, 2024.
